Turner Galleries is delighted to present an exhibition of highly collectable mid century furniture in conjunction with local style leaders Artepodean.
Accompanying the furniture will be contemporary artworks by Abdul Abdullah, Marcel Cousins, Cathy Blanchflower and Trevor Richards.
Artepodean gallery was established in 2011 and is tucked away in the leafy enclave at 260 Stirling Street Perth, not far from Turner Galleries, and just a short walk from the entertainment hub of Northbridge. Artepodean's collection contains an eclectic mix of vintage mid-century modern, industrial, Art Deco, antique, decorative objects and fine art. Each piece has been individually chosen and painstakingly restored.
Stand out pieces in this exhibition at Turner Galleries include a Grant Featherston R152 Contour lounge chair, a three piece lounge by Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen (as featured in Don Draper’s office in Mad Men), a leather Sling Chair by Clement Meadmore (as featured in the current exhibition Mid-Century Modern at the National Gallery of Victoria), a Playboy Chair by Jens Risom, and a Charles & Ray Eames chair.
Accompanying them is a selection of mid century furniture and lighting by known, and unknown, designers. Items include a fabulous large Danish coffee table, an immaculate English sideboard, an intriguing adjustable size circular dining table, a set of 6 rosewood Danish chairs and various other chairs, stools and low drawer units.
